Age Classifications

All race categories that are age based will use the 31st December 2011 as the age cutoff for the entire series. There are MTBA and UCI rules which we stick to at all times.

The rule is:

For Junior Categories

If you will turn 12 before Dec 31st 2011 - you must be in Under 13's
If you will turn 13 before Dec 31st 2011 - you must be in Under 15's

Any rider of any age may contest the Hardtail and Fun Categories

For Senior Categories

If you will turn 15 before Dec 31st 2011 - you must be in Under 17's
If you will turn 17 before Dec 31st 2011 - you must be in Under 19's
If you will turn 19 before Dec 31st 2011 - you must be in Sport, Expert or Elite
If you are 30 to 39 - you may contest Veterans
If you are 40 to 49 - you may contest Masters
If you are 50 to 60 - you may contest Super Masters
If you are 60 to 70 - you may contest Super Masters (No Grand Master Category)

• It is important to note that the age limits for the Senior Categories are indicative only. A rider who is 45 is able to ride in the Elite Men Category if desired, but a rider who is 29 is not allowed to contest the Veteran Category. The rule is that a rider (for events in the series) can contest a Category that is 'more competitive' or requires more effort. Therefore a Veteran rider who wants to race in a more competitive Category may contest either Sport, Expert or Elite. A Master or Super Master rider may also contest Sport, Expert or Elite. A Master rider however cannot contest the Veterans Category, henceforth a Super Master rider cannot contest the Masters or Veteran Categories.

If in doubt please refer to MTBA 2010-2011 Rider Information available at MTBA and at Australian National Series
